Mission Statement

To promote mutual support and fellowship among the mentally ill by bringing them together for social, recreational and educational activities in a congenial environment, with other who have had similar life experiences. To promote the understanding of mental and emotional illness, the eradication of the stigma associated with mental illness, and the improvement of existing rehabilitation programs through: --The encouragement of, and assistance in, the organizing of local groups with purposes and goals similar to those of this organization: --The dissemination of pertinent studies and reports - including information publicizing the rehabilitation, constructive activities, and accomplishments of the mentally ill- through appropriate media: --The participation in, and/or attendance at training courses, seminars, discussion groups, forums, panels or lectures:--The active promotion of independent living facilities under varying degrees of supervision for individuals recovering from mental illness: --The promotion of job training and employment - voluntary or paid - to help the mentally ill become as self-sufficient as possible:--The exchange of information with county, state, and national legislatures and appropriate agencies, for mutual enlightenment on mental health matters:--The education of concerned officials and the general public about the importance of efforts to rehabilitate the mentally ill.
