Mission Statement

The purpose of the society shall be the collection, preservation and dissemination of knowledge about the history of Lyon County and to relate it to the history of the region and the state of Minnesota.

To disseminate historical information to interested persons, groups, and institutions and to promote appreciation of the county and state by preserving and displaying historical materials, geneaology, sponsoring special events, and operating a museum.

Description

The Lyon County Historical Society (LCHS) is a non-profit, member supported organization in Marshall. LCHS operates the Lyon County Museum, LCHS Research Center, Museum Gift Shop, and Museum Ice Cream Shop. The Prairieland Genealogical Society shares space in the research center.
