Our Mission

  • Reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Haiti by teaching midwifery skills.
  • Enhance maternal health by providing regular prenatal and postnatal care, including preventative services by trained SBAs.
  • Provide safe, clean places for women to give birth.
  • Incorporate care of the newborn infant, vaccines, dehydration treatment and prevention along with breastfeeding support with maternal care.

Located in Hinche, Haiti, Midwives For Haiti was founded for the purpose of saving the lives of mothers and babies in Haiti. Because of the lack of skilled birth attendants Haiti has the highest maternal and infant mortality in the Western Hemisphere. The training Midwives For Haiti provides to Haitian women helps them become skilled birth attendants in their communities and enables them to have an income to support their families. Midwives For Haiti serves thousands of women each year with prenatal care and care during and after birth that includes screening for risks and treatment with the appropriate medications and interventions.
