ColorCancer provides free at-home care supplies to cancer patients in need.
Affect Change, Inc. dba ColorCancer is an Austin-based nonprofit providing free at-home care supplies to cancer patients in need through the Care Box Program. ColorCancer’s Care Box Program was designed to help alleviate the financial burden and improve the quality of life for cancer patients. The program is currently piloting in Central Texas, with a goal of serving cancer patients nationwide. In 2015, ColorCancer aims to serve 200 patients through the Care Box Program. Cancer patients participating in the Care Box Program create customizable wish lists of needed at-home care supplies from a set product list, based on their needs. This list includes items such as bed pans, lotions, nutritional supplements, and heating pads. We are in the process of developing an easy-to-use online platform that will allow donors to view and grant items directly for a patient. 100% of all net donations made through ColorCancer’s new platform will go directly to serving cancer patients.
ColorCancer’s Care Box Program is open to patients impacted by all types of cancer. We work directly with referral sources (social workers, nurses, and oncologists) from local cancer centers (Austin Cancer Center, Texas Oncology, and Dell Children's Hospital) to ensure that all applicants have a cancer diagnosis and meeting their needs would not be a duplication of services from what their insurance or another resource covers.
