Mission Statement
COTS offers help and hope to homeless persons in Sonoma County by providing safe shelter and housing, helping people develop steady incomes and helping them get back under a roof of their own.
We help homeless families become stable and break the cycle of homelessness by teaching homeless parents to make their children's needs a high priority and to provide a safe, loving and secure home for their children.
Description
The Family Connection is an award winning program offering you the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a Sonoma COunty family. The Family Connection matches previously homeless families with community volunteers who want to help that family rebuild their life. Three to five volunteers are assigned for one year, to serve as a support team to one family transitioning from homelessness. Each team member spends a couple of hours per week providing the kind of help most of us count on from friends and family-things like:playing with the children while mom is in school, or celebrating a birthday or other achievements, helping to fill out applications or driving to appointments.
