Mission Statement

Friends of Gueoul, Statement of Purpose The purpose of Friends of Gueoul, Inc. is to provide support, guidance and financial aid to the students and citizens of Gueoul, Senegal and neighboring villages. Our support is intended to give them the opportunity to have the highest quality educational experience possible based upon their talent and initiative, rather than upon limitations of resources. Our ultimate goal is to promote empowerment, independence and competence of each individual, through education. Aid in the form of scholarships, school supplies, school uniforms and other basic necessities will be distributed within the school district of Gueoul, Senegal, based on need, with priority going to girls. Due to many cultural factors, bright and talented girls have historically been forced to forego education, in circumstances where their male peers continue on. Often parents will withdraw girls from school to work at home or to be married.
