Mission Statement
St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides education and training for individuals who are blind and visually impaired in order to enhance their physical, psychological and social rehabilitation, and independence. The Society also serves as an information clearinghouse for the public and a resource center for those who are blind and visually impaired.
Description
The Society is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization working primarily with older adults with age related eye conditions. The Society also provides Children's Services in outlying school districts, the ongoing STARS program, and a summer STEP program. Services include:
Low Vision Clinic & Services
Independent Living Training
Independent Travel Training
Individual Adjustment Counseling and Group Support
Adaptive Communication Training including Braille and Speech and Large Print Computer Training
Leisure/Recreation Programming
