DVC Mission Statement: The mission of the Domestic Violence Center is to provide shelter, crisis intervention, and supportive services for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and their families, with a commitment to safety, respect and promoting self-determination.
The Sexual Assault Resource Center, or SARC, is a program with the Domestic Violence Center. SARC provides free and confidential services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to victims of sexual assault and their families.
These services include:
Individualized Support Services: Non-judgmental, supportive listening to survivors in person or on the Hotline. Survivors face many obstacles after a sexual assault, and staff and trained volunteers can tailor support to their individual needs. Advocates provide information and referrals to various community agencies.
Legal Advocacy: Support during the initial interview with law enforcement and throughout the criminal justice process. Advocates can also assist a victim with filing a restraining order.
Medical Advocacy: Accompanyment during medical procedures and evidence collection at the hospital.
