Alliance for Childhood

Mission Statement

The Alliance for Childhood is working toward the day every child experiences a childhood that fosters healthy growth and development, love of learning and joy in living. By taking a holistic view and approach to childhood, we identify and advocate for practical solutions that address issues impacting childhood; especially where there are areas of inequality.

We advance our vision by:

• Developing tools and resources to support experiential, play-based learning in preschools and kindergartens.

• Crafting creative strategies and partnerships to promote outdoor play and hands-on experiences in nature for young children.

• Engaging with agency leaders and elected officials on policy developments that support a healthy and creative childhood for all children, while preparing them for the rich and complex experiences of the 21st century.

• Providing resources, news and information for teachers, school leaders, care-givers, parents, grandparents, community leaders, and policy-makers through electronic communications, social media, publications, workshops and presentations.
