Mission Statement

The GardenWorks Project is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing food insecurity in Chicago’s west suburbs by providing families in need of food assistance with home vegetable gardens and educational resources.

Description

We help families who would otherwise be unable to grow their own food because of financial need, disability, or advanced age. The GardenWorks Project works with area food pantries to identify families who are both in need of food assistance and want to grow their own food. Our dedicated group of volunteers make it happen.

We welcome volunteers to help us build gardens in May and July, and administrative volunteers year 'round. We primarily work in the cities of Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Glendale Heights, Lombard, West Chicago, Naperville and St. Charles.
