Purpose As a Cat Cabby for Second Chance for Strays, Inc. (SCFS), you are responsible for picking up and dropping off cats between various veterinary clinics, satellite adoption centers and foster homes. Benefits to Volunteering The satisfaction of helping rescued cats get the veterinary care they need and helping them find forever homes The opportunity to be part of a cat-loving team Responsibilities When a cat needs a ride, the details of the task (date, time, address of pick up and drop off, cat’s name, etc.) will be shared with a pool of Cat Cabbies, including you. If you can take on the task, respond asap to confirm you are taking it on Once confirmed by the coordinator, it will be your responsibility to pick up and drop off the cat punctually, ensuring they arrive safely and are passed on to the appropriate person SCFS will provide you with a cat carrier to keep on hand (in your car or home) to be used in cases where the cat has no carrier Note - SCFS is not able to provide gift-in-kind tax receipts for gas or mileage Time Commitment Time commitment varies but would typically require 30-60 minutes per task. How many tasks you take on per week or month is up to you, however, to remain in the pool of Cat Cabbies we would look for each volunteer to take on 1-2 tasks per month Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Commitment to SCFS’s mission and respect for animals Possess an email address and/or cell phone number Access to a car and possess a valid driver’s license Flexible, reliable and available on short notice

Purpose As a member of Second Chance for Strays, Inc. (SCFS) foster home program, you will play an instrumental role in our rescue operations by housing rescued cats and kittens, caring for them as your own pets and preparing them for adoption into permanent homes. Benefits to Volunteering Make a significant difference in the lives of the animals under SCFS care Help match foster cats with adopters and achieve good outcomes for SCFS rescues Increase your knowledge and experience in animal care Companion animal without the long-term commitment - supplies and adoption support provided Responsibilities Daily cat care including feeding, providing fresh water and accessible, well-maintained litter box(es) Socialize foster cat(s) - i.e. play, affection Transport cat to/from vet clinic, if necessary Meet with potential adopters and/or transport to adoption event locations Liaise with foster home volunteers, transport volunteers, and adoption coordinators Facilitate adoptions through providing updated photos and videos of your fosters and providing information about the personality traits of the cats and kittens Participate in adoption promotions/events Time Commitment Foster care placement can range from a few days to upwards of six months or more, depending on the cat. Adoption activity can be cyclical, declining at certain times of the year and then increasing at others Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Commitment to SCFS’s mission Love of animals Basic cat care (when and how much to feed, litter box maintenance, cat proofing home) Training and supplies can be provided Effective communication and interpersonal skills to meet with potential adopters and liaise with foster home volunteers, transport volunteers, and adoption coordinators Knowledge of common cat illnesses, and signs of illness in cats (training, information, and support provided)
