Mission Statement

The mission of Echoes Of Nature is to connect people of all ages with the wonders of nature and wildlife in particular. The goal is to promote understanding and stewardship of the natural world. This is accomplished by providing nature oriented programs featuring live animal ambassadors at our audience’s location.

Description

Echoes Of Nature provides nature education programs featuring live animal ambassadors to audiences in Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore, Charles, St. Mary and Calvert Counties since 2002. These programs cover a wide range of themes which are presented at schools, adult centers, early education centers, and community events. The school age programs are designed to complement the Maryland state standards and core curriculum for the designated grade level. The current list of programs can be found on the website. The next stage is to establish a wildlife discovery center to expand our programing and offer a location for the public to visit. Visitors would be able to tour indoor and outdoor exhibits featuring more live animal ambassadors to learn about the biomes of Maryland and the wildlife that inhabit them. In 2014 an estimated audience of 24,200 was reached and the ambassador roster now includes over 65 animals. These include mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The ambassadors include Maryland native and non-native species, most of which are adopted from shelters and rescues.
