Contact John Clark sfsjhouse@hotmail.com or (513) 381-4941 to coordinate a day or date. If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one. - Blessed Mother Teresa FAQ Who can participate in the "Square Meal Circle?" Anyone! School groups, youth groups, corporate groups, faith based organizations, community groups...... we just ask that all groups follow our simple guidelines. How do we know what to cook? Give us a call and we can arrange whatever works for you. We can let you know what might be on the menu for a particular week to help coordinate. Have a favorite recipe? Great! Just let us know what you will make. Don’t know what to do? No problem - we have lots of recipes we will share. Where do we cook the meals? You are welcome to cook in our kitchen. We have a large, profession grade kitchen, complete with pot, pans and other needed equipment. But if you are comfortable preparing something in your own home and bringing it over, that is fine too. Do we have to buy our own ingredients? That is completely up to you. You can use items in our pantry and refrigerator or yours. When you call us we can discuss whether or not we have or can budget for items you need for a particular meal. If that doesn’t work out for some reason, then we will work with you to find a meal that does. We aren’t picky! Just budget conscious. We just ask that you supply every meal’s essential ingredient: love. If I donate the ingredients, can I get a tax receipt? You bet’cha! We are a 501, c-3 organization. We are happy to provide you with a tax letter for the meal. Can a group cook together? Oh yeah! Granted, our kitchen won’t hold 20 people, but a small group or family is great. I am an individual - can I still cook? Sure thing! When we don’t have volunteers, we cook and we would love to have a friend talk to & to lighten the task! What time is dinner anyway? Dinner is at 6pm every night. Our program dictates that we serve dinner at this time only.

FAQ Who can participate in the "Baloney Brigade?" Anyone! School groups, youth groups, corporate groups, faith based organizations, community groups...... we just ask that all groups follow our guidelines. Do we have to make only baloney sandwiches? Can we make any type of sandwich? So, you don’t want to be full of baloney? Want to beef it up? Feeling hammy? Want to go a little nutty or be a turkey? Don’t chicken out - Go right ahead! Whatever your budget allows, we appreciate it. You can make all one kind of sandwich or different types. We just ask that all like kind are together in one box (or bag) and clearly labeled. Do we have a facility where sandwiches can be made? Typically, all Baloney Brigade sandwiches are prepared off-site at someone’s home, place of worship, school and/or work. But if your group wants to come use our kitchen, we’re good with that! Can I make the sandwiches at my home? Yes. Sandwiches can be prepared anywhere. We ask that our guidelines be adhered to regardless of the location. Can a group make more than 200 sandwiches? No. We typically do not need more than 200 at a time. We do store any extras in our refrigerator for use at the next distribution day, but do not have the capacity to store in excess of 200 at one time. How do you get the sandwiches once prepared? We do not have the staff to facilitate pick up. We ask that you deliver all sandwiches to the House. When should we deliver the sandwiches once prepared? Anytime! Being an emergency shelter, staff is available 24 hours a day- even 3am! (but we don’t expect you to do that - unless you really want to!). You can deliver your sandwiches anytime in advance of your scheduled day’s distribution. (Sandwich distribution is between 11am- 1pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.) How much does it cost to make a sandwich? The typical retail cost of a sandwich with lettuce and condiments is approximately $.52 per sandwich. Can I freeze the sandwiches? No. Please bring them made fresh. It is fine if they are refrigerated before hand, but we ask for them not to be frozen. How are the sandwiches delivered to those in need? We distribute the sandwiches in their bags at our House in OTR. Anyone who approaches our window where we distribute receives a sandwich. There are no questions or forms to fill out. On the rare occasion, we have an excess of sandwiches at the end of our distribution time that we cannot keep for quality or storage reasons. In these instances, we share these extras with other reputable homeless and emergency shelters serving downtown area, such as Rachel’s House. We never let a sandwich go bad, go in the trash or to anyone who isn’t in need. Can we help distribute the sandwiches? You sure can! It is not necessary -we love and appreciate friends like you for making them for us. But it would be great to spend a little more time with you if you have it to spare! We distribute right from the House, so you could deliver your sandwiches and hang out with us to help distribute. We’re cool like that!
