Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Delaware County Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with all of God's people to strengthen communities by building, renovating and repairing homes, and by advocating the value of, and need for, affordable and sustainable housing.
Since our affiliate was created in 1989, Delaware County Habitat for Humanity has partnered with local families, helping them achieve the dream of home ownership.
Habitat home ownership is based on the need for housing, the ability to repay a mortgage, and the willingness to partner with Habitat. Many of our partner families are second- and third-generation Delaware County residents who live and work in the community, but are being squeezed out of the housing market.
Community partnerships are critical to our success. These include:
- Churches and other organizations participating in group builds;
- Contributions from local businesses, individuals, organizations, and corporations;
- Hundreds of local volunteers who help build homes, serve on committees, support our ReStore, and join in our mission of providing decent, affordable shelter to families in need.
- City and County government officials who support our mission.
Our ReStore is located behind our offices at 305 Curtis St. Delaware. Open to the public, the ReStore provides affordable materials to families for home repair and renovation, and accepts donations from individuals and businesses. Our ReStore received the 2008 medium population market ReStore of the Year award from Habitat for Humanity International.
Our affiliate received the Good Neighbor Award from the Ohio Self-Determination Association in 2003.
Delaware County Habitat for Humanity participates in Habitat International's tithe program. Local donations have helped build 21 homes in Guatemala through the tithe program.
