Description
Since 2006, Kledev has worked directly with citizens of Haiti and we've tried a lot of different things to see what we could influence to create and realize a brighter future in Haiti. Some things worked, some didn’t. The main thing is that we may fail or only pull part of what we envisioned off, but like the Haitian people, we never give up... and working together, we've found several things that really do work.
Rather than have people from our organization telling people in Haiti what they should do, we prefer to work with our Haitian partners to empower them to fulfill on their own visions, so what we do is listen. We’re clear that they actually know what they want and quite often, what to do better than we do, but maybe they haven’t had the opportunity to look and see what they could work on in spite of their daily circumstances... and may benefit from having a partner in working it out, just like anyone else.
Once a person sees that they can make something happen that they didn’t think was possible, there’s no stopping them!
One evening in 2011, while walking home from our office in Port-au-Prince, Roosevelt Hyppolite, our previous In-Country Director, said to our founder... "now we can do anything - you showed us that."
This is what fulfills on our mission most - people finding their own power to create and fulfill on anything that they can imagine.
