Mission Statement

To reduce recidivism by supporting , through a full spectrum of services, the efforts of individuals with a criminal record to become productive, law-abiding members of the community.

Description

To address this range of needs the Safer Foundation offers the following services to individuals with a criminal record: Assessment: client specific inventory of strengths and barriers; individual plan of action Supportive Services: assessments and referrals to appropriate agencies to address needs such as housing, medical care and mental health services. When these barriers are addressed the client is encouraged to return to Safer for employment assistance Education: innovative peer tutor classrooms that focus on improving literacy, GED acquisition and life-skills. Employment: A three-pronged program that actively engages the client in the process of getting a job: pre-employment training, job referral and placement and one year support and follow-up--for the employee and the employer--post placement Life Skills: Continuing education groups in areas such as anger management, parenting skills and HIV prevention.
