To promote and preserve the history of Hillsborough, New Brunswick and the Steeves Family, having the Honourable William Henry Steeves as the focal point in its activity.
- To collect, conserve and display documents, artifacts, and articles related to the life and times of the Honourable William Henry Steeves, Father of Confederation, the Steeves Family, and Hillsborough and surrounding area, with a special focus on the general period 1840-1890;
- To develop, operate, and maintain the Hon. William Henry Steeves House Museum in the birthplace of the Hon. William Henry Steeves, as a education centre open to the general public and students;
- To operate the museum’s interpretive collection and educational program based on the history of Confederation, the life and times of the Hon. William Henry Steeves, Father of Confederation; the Steeves Family; and Hillsborough and surrounding area, focusing on the general period 1840-1890;
- To accept donations, manage funds, make purchases of artifacts, related articles, and other goods and services coincident with the above objects.
2016 will be the 250th Anniversary of the arrival of the Steeves Family in New Brunswick. Approximately 10,000 Steeves descendants will reunite in the Hillsborough, New Brunswick area from July 11th-17th, 2016, for an exciting week of music, history, food, family, and fun.
We need volunteers to help make this happen! Everyone of all ages and interests is welcome, with skills ranging from computers to public relations, event planning, genealogy, security, finance, fundraising, heritage performances, entertainment, music, and everything in between.
Whether you have a few or many hours to give, we need you!
