Mission Statement

Mission:

To promote and preserve the history of Hillsborough, New Brunswick and the Steeves Family, having the Honourable William Henry Steeves as the focal point in its activity.

Mandate:

1. To collect, conserve and display documents, artifacts, and articles related to the life and times of the Honourable William Henry Steeves, Father of Confederation, the Steeves Family, and Hillsborough and surrounding area, with a special focus on the general period 1840-1890;
2. To develop, operate, and maintain the Hon. William Henry Steeves House Museum in the birthplace of the Hon. William Henry Steeves, as a education centre open to the general public and students;
3. To operate the museum’s interpretive collection and educational program based on the history of Confederation, the life and times of the Hon. William Henry Steeves, Father of Confederation; the Steeves Family; and Hillsborough and surrounding area, focusing on the general period 1840-1890;
4. To accept donations, manage funds, make purchases of artifacts, related articles, and other goods and services coincident with the above objects.
