Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Since 2005, SITV has built and maintained a classical theatrical company of such excellence that it has overflowed its local boundaries, created a renowned artistic center in Southern California's Wine Country, and strived to present work of the highest quality, offering company members, audiences and students the richest possible learning experiences
Modeled after the OSF (Ashland, Oregon Shakespeare Festival) which draws over half a million theatre goers annually, SITV serves as a tourism draw for our local restaurants, hotels, wineries and other business establishments.
Finally, Teachers and students are a vital part of our audience. We passionately believe in the power of theatre to change lives, especially young lives. SITV's educational outreach to our Temecula Valley area schools has brought Shakespearean performances and workshops to the classroom, and originated a theatrical competition in which students have studied, created, and performed the literature of Shakespeare. We are excited to launch our first Youth Production Theater Camp this July.
In 2015, SITV will be celebrating it's Tenth Anniversary with a series of special events and performances. We look forward to welcoming old and new friends in helping us shape the next decade, in which we will endeavor to broaden our theatrical programs, expand our educational outreach programs and theatrical competition, whilst reaching a growing international audience.
Now in its 10th season, Shakespeare in the Vines stages three outdoor shows every summer at various wineries in Temecula, California. SITV has attracted the strongest actors, directors, and other artists from the area to participate in the festival. As the only company in Southwest Riverside County dedicated to producing the works of Shakespeare, SITV's purpose is to create theatrical experiences of the highest standards to reach current and future audiences through illuminating interpretations of these classic plays, deepened by the experiences of our diverse culture.
One of SITV’s primary goals is to enrich and entertain current audiences as well as to educate the audiences of the future. To this extent, SITV is committed to:
1. providing educational outreach programs to the schools in our community by providing low-cost performances to student bodies that are accessible and interactive, bringing workshops and coaching for students and teachers into the school classroom
2. sponsoring an Inland Empire youth Shakespearean Competition for middle and high schools who wish to participate. This will be modeled on the CETA festivals that currently provide thousands of students throughout the state with educational theatre support services and lively competitions.
3. offering children an opportunity to develop and perform in professional settings each year through the Shakespeare in the Vines performance venues. One future goal is to host a Shakespeare production camp for children and teens in collaboration with the City of Temecula and the Arts Council of Riverside County.
4. providing scholarships for high school seniors who wish to continue their developing knowledge and performance of Shakespearean literature in their college studies, especially those who are interested in teaching careers.
