Mission Statement

The Volunteer Humane Society located in Lancaster Ma is a cat only shelter. When an animal arrives at the shelter we give it a thorough medical examination, preform any procedures or vaccinations as necessary, and keep them isolated from the rest of the residents.

We can house between 20-30 cats, when we are fully staffed and currently we have 10. We will not take in any sick animals as a preventative measure to ensure the health and safety of our cats and volunteers as well.

We take in cats that are due to be euthanized, due to overcrowding from the local MSPCA, and we will keep our animals until they are adopted. We do not have a time limit as to how long a cat will be in our possession.

Description

We are a cat only no-kill shelter that has been in business for over 30 years. We are a "free-roaming" shelter, which means that we do not keep the cats in our care in cages. We own our building (a former home) and locally we are known as the "cat house".
All of our cats have been vet checked, are FELV/FIV tested negative. All our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered.
