Mission Statement

To mobilize the community to solve its problems through a network of volunteer placement and promotion.

Description

Today, the Volunteer Center focuses on four main areas of volunteerism: Recruitment, Placement, Recognition, and Training. The Volunteer Center National Network, (450 Volunteer Centers, nationwide), has identified these focus areas as the base standards which reflect program and organizational excellence. Our 14 programs (Day of Caring, Corporate Mini Days of Caring, Project Blueprint, Holiday Hope Chests, Volunteer Program Management Series, Breakfast for Champions Volunteer Recognition Event, Super Senior Recognition Program, ""Someone Special"", Weekly Opportunities Column in the Morning Call & The Express Times, Volunteer Opportunities Brochure, Business Volunteer Council, ""Spirit of Volunteerism"" Corporate Awards Luncheon, Board Training and Youth Volunteer Initiative) fall into one or more of these areas. The Business Volunteer Council, established by area businesses in partnership with the Volunteer Center, promotes corporate community service by linking the resources and knowledge of these companies to the needs of non-profit groups serving our communities.
