Mission Statement

Hands On Greater Buffalo helps individuals, families and corporate and community groups "lend a hand" and be the change they wish to see in the world by offering a multitude of volunteer opportunities throughout our region.

Description

Hands On Greater Buffalo is an initiative of Western New York AmeriCorps which seeks to bring people together to strengthen communities through meaningful volunteer action. As part of a rapidly growing and innovative volunteer engagement network, Hands On Greater Buffalo focuses on leveraging the talents of our volunteers to most effectively meet critical needs in our communities and make a difference in the lives of others.

Hands On provides a starting point for individuals to begin their journey to make a difference and become effective volunteers, making it simple for them to choose from a variety of projects that connect community needs with their time and interests. We work in partnership with local organizations and schools to create Hands On service projects that are fun, well-managed, and produce tangible benefits in communities.

Hands On Greater Buffalo was launched in 2006, and has since mobilized volunteers in service to recover from the October storm, renovate schools, and revitilize and refurbish non-profits and community centers througout greater Buffalo. Our annual service projects include Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Corporate Month of Service, Earth Week and the Day of Caring Celebration. We also conduct ongoing service projects throughout the year.
