Every day, Heartland Hospice has the distinct honor or providing hundreds of U.S. military veterans with hospice care. Veterans share a common language and code of conduct. No one understands the questions and concerns of a U.S. military veteran more than a fellow veteran or active duty personnel. We are looking for kind, compassionate, loving, caring volunteers to visit our Hospice Patients. If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others this is for you. We embrace the philosophy that no one person dies alone. Heartland Hospice serving Tucson and Green Valley. You will attend a training that explains hospice and how and what to do visiting patients. It is a one day training. We believe our mission is to enrich lives. That begins with every life we encounter: Our employees, our patients, and those who love and care for them, the communities in which we operate, our stakeholders and those who are yet to become our customers. What is hospice care? Hospice is designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support to people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs, so that each client can spend their final days in dignity and comfort. What will you do? You will become an important part of a support team of volunteers and professionals assuring that your fellow volunteers are recognized for their efforts and kept up to date on their client's needs. Music is a wonderful interpersonal process that can affect our physical, emotional, mental, social needs and help to improve or maintain overall health. It is especially effective with dementia patients. Music communicates and arouses emotions, brings comfort and provides connections. It is helpful for both patients AND their loved ones. Heartland Hospice is looking for Music therapists (or amateur singers/musicians) to provide companionship to our patients. If you love music or can play an instrument, share your love and talent for music with patients at the end of their life journey. Heartland Hospice in Tucson and Green Valley need your talents and caring for our patients. Volunteers are the heart of our hospice team. Hospice stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs, so that each client can spend their final days in dignity and comfort. What will you do? You will become an important part of a support team to perform tasks such as: filing, answering phones, copying, organizing, and assisting office staff with a variety of duties to keep our office organized. Requirements: Ablility to commit to a minimum of 6 months (preferred). Reliable transportation.
