Description

The Historic Garden League is a volunteer organization in Monterey, the first capital of California. The HGL maintains the Casa del Oro garden in the heart of the California State Historic Parks area of Monterey, surrounded by adobe buildings, other gardens and the Fisherman's Wharf. Volunteers meet three to four mornings a month to plant, propagate, and maintain the Casa del Oro and other nearby gardens. The HGL also staffs two adjacent shops that provide information on Monterey's historic gardens and sell gifts relating to local history and gardens.
