Mission Statement

District 196 Mission:

"Educating our students to reach their full potential"

ABE State Mission:

"ABE assist individuals to become productive citizens, to become more responsible and self-sufficient, to improve their quality of life and to make positive contributions to their communities."

Description

ABE/196 offers English as a Second Language classes within a life skills context for learners with no English through advanced and transition level. We offer classes to prepare for the US citizenship exam, and twice a year we have a citizenship application workshop with translators and a lawyer available to assist immigrants. We have classes to prepare for the GED exam as well we are a GED test Site. We offer classes for adults to earn a high school diploma, and classes to help students brush-up on their reading writing and math skills. Our family school offers opportunities for adults to attend their classes while their children attend an early childhood program. There is a limited amount of transportation provided for district 196 students. All of our programs are free and are offered mornings, afternoons and nights. We currently have three locations, Woodland Learning Center located in Woodland Elementary School, Rahncliff learning Center in Eagan, and Grace Learning Center in Apple Valley.
