Safe Space Saturday is a curated space for Black girls and women to connect with licensed mental health providers in a comfortable wellness retreat environment. Each Safe Space Saturday includes an in-person wellness experience, a SHE’s Mentally Prepared mental health literacy workshop, a curated wellness box, and a gift card. *We cannot accept court ordered volunteers* Each Safe Space Saturday is free and designed with our attendees mind! So tap in to volunteer for this traveling wellness retreat when it's in your borough. We're coming to Harlem for this one and our attendees will have access to virtual drop-in mental health check-in sessions with licensed providers, field trip opportunities and lots of other free goodies in NYC throughout 2023. Volunteer needs: Bring your positivity and support for black girls in the Harlem community! We will need assistance with set-up, break down, registration and break out room activities. **Note** This is a sign up for volunteers to support the event, not for attendees. Available Shifts: Note- please be prepared to volunteer for your full shift as times are noted below. First Shift - 10:30am-3pm 11:00am to 12pm: Setup of tables, decorations, food and signage 12pm to 3:00pm: Support with activity stations and food for the early afternoon session Second Shift - 2:30pm-7pm 3pm to 6pm: Support with activity stations and food for the late afternoon session 6pm to 7pm: Breakdown of tables, decorations and clean-up You must confirmed your selected shift via the volunteer link in our platform: https://x.gldn.io/e/Q7gGEH6R1Eb You will receive free volunteer goodies for joining us! Volunteers to support our BGS Staff with event set-up, breakdown and management of the activity stations. Do I need training to volunteer? You must arrive on time for your selected shift. Our staff will give a short explanation of your tasks and answer any additional questions upon arrival. How old do I have to be to volunteer individually? We ask that adults are 18+ to volunteer independently. Is parking or train access available? There is no onsite parking and limited street parking. It is located a couple blocks away from Melrose station in Harlem. I need volunteer hours for school, work or a community group - Can I earn them at this event? Yes! We are happy to validate volunteer service hours for these reasons. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any court ordered volunteers or validate court related service hours for any reason. Can I volunteer with my company or a group of people? Yes! We love groups who serve together. Please note the number of spaces available for volunteers and register accordingly. Once the spaces are full, we welcome you to join us at another event. Can I volunteer with my child (age 2-17)? Unfortunately, we don't have a role at this special event that best fits for children at this time, but we would love for your girl to participate in the future free event! While love all of the engagement with Black Girls Smile, our goal for this event is to curate a space for black girls & women to connect with each other & wellness. We will need our volunteers to focus on their assigned task for their shift and to connect with serving guest attendees.
