Description

WHAM Art Association

Our mission is to provide innovative, multidisciplinary, arts-inclusive programming, exhibits and projects to the diverse communities West of Phoenix.

As an organization we are interested in enhancing economic development and artistic collaboration for our members, the community and other organizations.

WHAM Art Association achieves its mission through intensive, year-round activities for all ages and abilities with community led programming that engages local audiences in quality artistic experiences and expression.

EDUCATION

Our artist instructors teach classes for both youth and adults, including specialized programming for veterans and adults with special needs. We facilitate art opportunities and experiences for people with disabilities by providing accommodations or adaptive classes such as the 'Artist Within’. Further, we provide an art therapy program for veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder 'Art: A Path to Healing’.

GALLERY

WHAM Community Art Center is an economic and artistic resource for working artists. We rent studio space at a low cost and provide tools, entrepreneurial workshops, opportunities for networking, and other pertinent information artists need in order to be successful.

WHAM West Gallery professional programs and exhibits are organized by our Gallery Director and volunteers. The objective of this gallery experience is to help artists learn how to properly execute shows and market their own art work.

The center also has an artist boutique where many artists have displayed their work and wares. This feature teaches artists how to research, label, and market their pieces by using our small retail shop. The space is available for rent and is frequently used for community events.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Our organizational programs integrate artistic exploration with community building. As a community resource and leader, we initiate community projects, public murals and public art installations by collaborating with local residents and artists. We believe in creating positive change in our neighborhood and beyond.
