Mission Statement

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, formed by ESPN and Jim Valvano in 1993, has a strong presence in the scientific community. The Foundation is guided by an elite, all-volunteer Scientific Advisory Board who recommends the research projects funded. This Board is comprised of top physicians and research scientists from prominent universities and cancer centers throughout the country. Working with this team of talented professionals, we are proud to carry out Jim’s vision for the future.

Jim’s dream of finding a cure for cancer is one shared by millions. Although we have not yet achieved this goal, every day we get a little bit closer and will continue to honor his inspiring words, "Don’t Give Up . . . Don’t Ever Give Up!" Get involved in the fight! Description

Our goal in Kentucky is to raise funds to support cancer research at UofL's James Graham Brown Cancer Center and UK's Markey Cancer Center. Red and Blue working together to beat cancer! We were able to donate $100,000 to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center from funds raised throughout 2014 to fund a breathalyzer lung cancer detection study. An additional $25,000 was donated to the general V Foundation Cancer Research Fund.

We have an Advisory Council of business and community leaders that is providing strategic direction to our various events and campaigns in the Metro Louisville area. We will also be initiating activities in Lexington during 2015.
