To connect people and plants in a place of exceptional beauty.
The Conservatory of Flowers has captivated guests since opening in 1879. This gem of Victorian architecture has a long and storied history, and is the oldest wood and glass conservatory in North America. As a city, state, and national historic landmark, the Conservatory remains one of the most beloved attractions in Golden Gate Park.
The Conservatory displays thousands of tropical plants from all over the world including hundreds of orchids, stunning water lilies, and a variety of tropical fruits.
I cannot say enough good things about my experience volunteering at the Conservatory of Flowers. Beautiful place, wonderful fellow volunteers, and their program is very well-organized and supportive. I highly recommend volunteering at the Conservatory to anyone who loves horticulture and historic landmarks, and who enjoys interacting with visitors from around the world. If we had not moved to Nevada I would still be there once a week!
