New Opportunities of Greater Meriden is a satellite office of the community action agency, New Opportunities,Inc, providing emergency services such as housing security deposits, eviction prevention, food pantry, free summer lunch program, energy assistance to low income households in Meriden, Cheshire,Wallingford, Berlin and Southington.

Description

Established in 1990 ,the 5k run and 3k walk is an annual event held each year to raise dollars to to benefit the emergency heating fund forfamilies and elderly living in Meriden, Southington,Wallingford ,Cheshire and Berlin who are experiencing a financial hardship due to medical issues or job loss. The 5k race is sanctioned by the USATF and holds the distinction of being the only race in downtown Meriden. The event is family and pet friendly and includes activities for children and an auction
