Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
City Heroes will provide high school students (and high school age individuals) with the unique opportunity to develop leadership skills through community service. The program will prepare high school students to become community leaders by combining meaningful social issues discussions with relevant community service projects. The program will begin in early November with a series of training workshops. These workshops will focus on teaching the students how to plan their own service projects, but they will also provide the students with an opportunity to learn more about each other and the communities around them.
Students who have completed the City Heroes program will feel comfortable confronting the city's social issues through education and service. We will encourage them to recognize the problems in their communities, but we will always emphasize the importance of creating positive social change through service. The City Heroes will learn that even the smallest project can make a difference and, in turn, they will teach that to others. City Heroes will also provide students with practical managerial skills that will help them throughout their lives. Whether they continue in service or not, they will have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of their peers, to meet interesting organizations and individuals throughout the city, and to organize and plan for a group of volunteers.
