Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is to empower the most vulnerable members of the Asian community, especially the elderly, the newcomers and those with limited English language skills, by providing them with the assistance necessary for them to lead self-sufficient, independent lives.
Family Bridges, Inc. was initially formed as the Oakland Chinese Community Council in 1968 as a volunteer-operated storefront information and referral service.
Designed to serve the fast growing Chinese immigrant community in the Oakland area, Family Bridges has now grown to include six major programs that are designed to promote independence through information and learning.
Our programs include two Adult Day Health Care Centers, a drop-in senior center, a social services unit, diabetes education center and a home care registry.
By focusing on problem issues in the East Bay Asian community such as diabetes and social services, we are able to provide the type of knowledge and skills that will keep a large amount of individuals from becoming unemployed, institutionalized or isolated.
