Mission Statement
Exceptional Care for Children improves the lives of technology-dependent children and their families through skilled nursing, transitional, and palliative care. We are a haven for healing fragile bodies when improvement is possible, and a refuge for nurturing vulnerable spirits when a cure is unattainable.
Description
Exceptional Care for Children is Delaware’s first and only non-profit pediatric skilled nursing home, providing transitional, long-term, and end of life or palliative care to children who are all medically fragile and dependent on technology for survival. Our goal is to provide them a home-like enviroment, outside of the hospital, where they can experience life as a kid despite their medical challenges.

I love art and what better way to give back to my community than making art for children in need. This volunteering opportunity was very special and I think everyone would love to be apart of this amazing organization!!!

I have been a volunteer at ECC for about a decade. The staff are incredibly dedicated and passionate, and the kids will never cease to amaze you. Literal miracles are accomplished here. Love, life, laughter and learning are found here at all times. There is plenty to do if working directly with the children is not your thing. Just know that time, treasure or talent you invest here will not go to waste.
