Mission Statement

Helping our community thrive by using our greatest natural resource -- VOLUNTEERS!

Description

Voluntary Action Center was established in 1973 in response to all the charitable activities rising in the Iowa Lakes region as a way to coordinate people taking action to meet the community's needs.

Our signature project for a quarter century has been the Meals on Wheels program. We are also developing the Spencer-Okoboji Time Bank, building relationships to become the community service hub for the Spirit Lake and Okoboji school districts as well as Iowa Lakes Community College's Spirit Lake campus, which is also the location of our office.

We work with businesses and churches on community outreach. We are transitioning a grocery delivery outreach from a local church. We are the clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in the area.
