Description
Foster Grandparents volunteer in non-profit childcare centers, elementary schools, community centers, and Head Start programs. Foster Grandparents commit to at least 20 hours per week of service to build relationships with the children they serve. Children receive individualized attention and instruction from Foster Grandparents (FG) who work with them as tutors, mentors and caregivers and receive a living stipend for their volunteer service.
FG Volunteers must be at least 55 years of age and meet Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify for the stipend. The children served range from infant to 18 years of age and are designated as at-risk or having special needs. The children as well as the FGs come from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
