It is estimated that more than 48,900 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and more than 40,000 will die from the disease. It is the fourth leading cause of cancer death, with a five-year relative survival rate of just 7%. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest five-year relative survival rate of any major cancer.

Founded in 1999, the non-profit Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's national office is in Manhattan Beach, California, with offices in Washington, D.C., and volunteer leadership in more than 90 communities around the country.

Our Programs
Research - Since 2003, we have funded nearly $23 million in 110 research grants. In addition to growing the number of researchers directly working on this disease, this funding helps foster collaboration across disciplines and institutions.
Patient Services - Patient and Liaison Services (PALS) connects patients and their families with dedicated, highly trained Associates who provide comprehensive information and resources about the disease, treatment options, clinical trials, diet and nutrition, etc., throughout the course of treatment free of charge. More than 86,000 individuals have been served by the PALS program.
Community Outreach - We support an army of volunteers across the country who host local events, attend health fairs, distribute patient information to hospitals and doctors' offices, contact the media, and alert their elected officials about the urgent need for increased federal research funding.
Government Affairs & Advocacy - With an office in Washington, D.C., we educate elected officials about pancreatic cancer and the need to increase federal research funding dedicated to the disease. Our advocacy efforts have helped to increase funding for pancreatic cancer research from the National Cancer Institute from just over $17 million in 1999 to nearly $105 million in 2012, an $88 million increase.
