Mission Statement
Global Medicare Foundation is a nonprofit that expands access to healthcare and empowers local communities and involves volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing health challenges.
Global Medicare Foundation works in collaboration with local health experts, volunteers, local communities to facilitate access to health care and education in the most areas in Cameroon.
Our work consist of strengthening local health systems, educating the local populations on basic health issues they face on a daily basis, conduct baseline health surveys in villages and propose tangible solutions to these problems.
We encourage a spirit of humanitarianism, awareness, and a long-term commitment to ending health disparities amongst students, village communities and the general population at large.
We aim to reach the most remote villages in Cameroon where health care is needed.
We currently carry out sensitization works, we create partnerships with local nursing schools to gives student nurses an opportunity to gain field experience in their field of study.
We aim to open small health centers in villages where the action of the government cannot reach and by so doing to provide direct health care services to low income populations and vulnerable groups.
Through our partnership with local health institutions and we aim to put students and local and international volunteers to lead the fight for health equity.
Description
GMF seeks to expand access to healthcare by building the capacity of on the ground partners located in village communities, providing direct medical services in underserved communities, and investing in health systems for underserved patients.
How we do it: Access, Partnership, and Empowerment.
- Working to provide responsible, quality health care services to the poor
- Building the capacity of healthcare facilities workers treating underserved patients in remote areas; and
- Encouraging future healthcare professionals and leaders to actively fight health disparities and promote health equity throughout their lives.
We seek to build capacity through education, expand outreach, and help provide quality healthcare to marginalized, underserved communities. Through partnership with health institutions we work with students throughout the Cameroon - the next generation of doctors, nurses, and public health professionals - we help inspire a movement of leaders who actively understand the role they can and should play in transforming the lives of others, regardless of where they end up.
We understand that short-term medical service teams are limited in their ability to address many complex health challenges. But we believe that those efforts paired with longer-term commitments to partner organizations and individual communities can improve health outcomes in a systematic, and profound way.
