Mission Statement

The mission of the Uptown Dance Academy (UDA) is to train and prepare students young and old for professional performance careers in dance while instilling a higher level of self-discipline, self-esteem, and personal achievement regardless of their financial limitations.

Description

Established in May 1996, UDA is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to training youth ages 3 to adult in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, African, Acrobatics & Hip-Hop. Annually UDA had four (4) performance seasons reaching audience of at least 100,000 people. Along with the regular Saturday school The Uptown Dance Academy also has a pre-professional youth dance theatre called the Uptown Kids Urban Dance Theatre. They are one of the top professional children performance groups in NYC, these student performers have been featured on Television Commercials, Music Videos and Feature Films. Recently, the Company has been recognized as first runners-up in the NIKE Competition and was featured on the CBS Early Morning Show, WN11, NBC Weekend Today Show and the front page of the New York Times.
