Mission Statement

It is our goal to make government more efficient, fair and transparent. Both the reality and the appearance of clean and effective government are vitally important if Philadelphia is to achieve the success it must.

Seventy cares very deeply about educating citizens, protecting their voting rights and driving up voter participation - all of which are the foundation of better government.

Seventy is best known as the city's dependable watchdog during election time. Although we will continue to focus on trustworthy elections, we are actively branching out into direct advocacy, aggressive research efforts and large-scale civic education programs.

At critical moments over the last 105 years, the Committee of Seventy has stepped forward to stimulate reform and help drive Philadelphia ahead. We are at it again

Description

The Committee of Seventy is a non-partisan organization conducting a permanent campaign to improve the Philadelphia region by demanding ethical conduct of elected officials, promoting government efficiency, educating citizens and safeguarding elections.

Seventy is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1904 by Philadelphia's civic and business leaders to fight corruption and to reform the Philadelphia political system.
