Responsibilities: Assist staff in maintaining the comfort and cleanliness of all the cats in the shelter. Assist staff with cleaning kennels using proper techniques, refilling food and water as needed, ensuring clean bedding and plenty of toys in each cage. Socialize and brush cats in the cages and colony rooms. Make notes about the animal's behavior for use by staff and potential adopters. Requirements: This is a physically active volunteer position. All volunteers must first attend the volunteer orientation. Junior volunteers can participate in this program with their parent-partner. Time Commitment: Shifts available every day of the week - morning shifts from 9 am to 1 pm and evening shifts from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Take dogs for walks, using safe animal handling and designated protocols and cleaning their kennels. Assist staff with laundry, dishes, sorting donations and other chores as needed. Write notes about the animal's behavior to inform staff and potential adopters. Requirements: This is a physically active volunteer position. All kennel assistance volunteers must first attend the volunteer orientation and be at least 18 years of age. Time Commitment: Shifts available every day of the week: morning shifts from 9 am to 1 pm, afternoon shifts from 2pm to 5pm, evening shifts from 6 pm to 9 pm

Knowledge of grant application process. Passion for animal rescue and welfare. Preferred: At least 1 year experience grant writing

Are you an animal lover and a people person? We need you! ARNO is looking for a volunteer community liaison to make sure our volunteers are having the best experience we can provide. The volunteer community liaison will take time to learn about the various volunteer opportunities ARNO provides, then put together volunteer experience plans to ensure we have the right level of training, adequate number of volunteers per shift/event/function, and a retention program. Tasks: learn about the various volunteer opportunities ARNO in order to understand what to look for in volunteers for each position write a volunteer experience plan and gain approval from the shelter manager and board of directors recruit new volunteers from NOLA community and from from existing volunteer subset into new, advanced volunteer functions raise volunteer concerns to the shelter manager and propose ways to address issues Requirements: live in New Orleans metro area ability to volunteer in person for the first 8 weeks at the main shelter (271 Plauche St) and at adoption events around the city strong interpersonal skills Preferred Skills: experience in organizational behavior, human resources creation and analysis of surveys event planning
