The purpose of the Braemar City of Lakes Figure Skating Club is to promote and encourage the sport of figure skating under the auspices and according to the guidelines of the United States Figure Skating Association.
The Braemar City of Lakes Figure Skating Club seeks to develop each skater’s interest and potential within an environment of support, and with the highest standards of leadership, professionalism, and good sportsmanship.
Braemar Figure Skating Club in Edina, MN is hosting the 2015 Midwestern & Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships from January 28-31, 2015. It is the largest figure skating event in the Midwest!
Over 2,500 figure skaters, coaches, spectators, USFSA VIPs and officials will be in attendance for this competition. It is our goal to make it a fun and memorable event for the 170 teams traveling to the Twin Cities from all over the Midwest and West Coast. More than 3000 volunteer hours are needed to make this a successful event and we are seeking the engagement of the broader Twin Cities community to get involved.
Synchronized team skating is a growing discipline in figure skating. It is a highly technical form of team skating characterized by speed, accuracy, intricate formations and breathtaking transitions performed by teams of 8-20 skaters. It brings a team aspect to a sport that is otherwise individually focused and is very exciting to watch!
There are many opportunities to get involved over the four-day event. You don’t need any prior experience with figure skating to be able to take part in the fun! If you are interested in helping us provide a welcoming Minnesota experience for the teams and their families and want to learn more, contact our volunteer chair at firstname.lastname@example.org
Or you can follow the two links below to sign up directly for volunteer shifts. All volunteers will get free admission to the event the day of their shifts.
