Mission Statement

The Carroll County Forest Conservancy District Board advocates sound forest management practices to preserve the forest as a resource, promote tree planting and forest conservation, and help educate young people about trees and forests. Please enjoy the site and let us know how we can help!

Description

The Forestry Board can help you in many ways, such as:

You can get information on protecting the health of your trees, advice on responsible management and harvesting of trees, and information on record-keeping, estate tax planning, tax incentives for tree-planting and cost-share programs for forest improvement. One such program is the Backyard Buffers.

You can learn about protecting trees from damage during construction, and how strong and healthy trees can enhance the value of your project.

You can get a speaker to come to your class, help with lesson plans on the value of trees, field trips to tree farms, and help with school tree-planting projects. Take a workshop to learn more about trees and forests.

You can find local volunteer opportunities in forestry or attend the week-long summer conference on forestry careers at Hickory Environmental Center. Learn about tree identification, forest ecology, wildlife habitat improvement, and much more. An example of a local volunteer opportunity with the forestry board is the weed warriors.
