Mission Statement

[To provide additional support] to enhance existing tiny-k (early developmental intervention) services for infants and toddlers with special needs in Kansas.

Description

The purpose of the tiny-k Foundation is to provide additional support to enhance existing (early developmental intervention) Networks (programs) providing services for infants and toddlers with special needs in Kansas. The tiny-k Networks provide services as defined and approved by the Kansas Secretary of Health and Environment according to P.L. 102-119, Part H and KSA 75-5649. The Foundation was incorporated in April of 2004 and maintains membership including representatives from the Networks covering Kansas, an active Board of Directors, one VISTA volunteer and vacancies for three more VISTA members. There are 36 local Networks covering the STate of Kansas, directly serving infants and toddlers with disabilities and developmental delays. These family-centered and community-based services are effective in maximizing the child's growth and development through therapy and support, and are provided with no charge to families. The tiny-k services reach over 6000 children per year and involve over 300 full-time-equivalent staff members in local tiny-k Networks throughout Kansas. Twenty percent to forty percent of children receiving tiny-k services progress to the level that they do not need special education services by three years of age.
