Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
United Latino Community is an organization that assists individuals and families with referrals, translations, job placement, advocacy, citizenship instruction, and much needed legal advice. Our mission is to create and maintain a safe and healthy community in Carson City through advocacy and education. ULC serves Carson City, Lyon, and Douglas counties, which is home to approximately 23,424 Latino residents. In 2009 & 2010 we saw a little over 5,000 clients.
United Latino Community helps the Latino community. When people need help with a job application, filling out forms in English, legal advice for immigration, they come to United Latino Community. We provide classes that meet the needs of our clients. from driver's licenses to parenting classes to English as a Second Language courses.
We need volunteers to help teach the following classes:
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Pre-GED instruction
We provide the training and materials for free. If you can speak, read, and write English you can teach it with our materials. We have over 100 people on our list anxious to learn English. You can make a difference in someone's life by volunteering two hours each week at a time convenient to you. No teaching or foreign language required. Volunteers teach adults one-on-one or small groups of up to four people. This is a very rewarding experience for the vounteer tutor and the adult student!
