Mission Statement

To cultivate and display a unique and diverse collection of plants from around the world in a setting of exceptional beauty. To educate children and adults in gardening, horticulture and the natural environment, and to instill an appreciation of the value of plants in our lives and the importance of conserving them.

Description

The San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum has been called "the most beautiful garden in North America, public or private." Set in San Francisco's verdant Golden Gate Park, this world famous garden consists of 55 acres of landscaped gardens, forests and meadows and more than 7,000 varieties of plants from the temperate climates of the world. As the nonprofit partner in the operation of San Francisco Botanical Garden, the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society is responsible for many programs, including: collections management, the Strybing nursery and plant sales, public education, development and fundraising, the Strybing bookstore, the Helen Crocker Russell Library, and the volunteer and internship programs.
