Description

ArtsBusXpress underwrites transportation -- the missing link in a two-way street connecting San Diego school children with the arts. By providing grants for school buses, ArtsBusXpress enables teachers to integrate fieldtrips to music, theatre, dance, art galleries, museums, science, and technology into classroom instruction. For many children, these experiences with their classmates will be their only opportunity to visit an art gallery or museum, hear an opera or symphony concert, attend a play or ballet.

Since the first bus was launched in October 2002, over 93,000 students in more than 221 San Diego Schools have been offered A Ride to the Arts! 80% of the schools served by ArtsBusXpress are classified at the lowest economic-poverty level (Title I- eligible for free and reduced-price lunches). We continue to serve that community.
