Mission Statement
CAA was founded in 1969 to protect the civil and political rights of Chinese Americans and advance multiracial democracy in the United States. Today, CAA is a progressive voice in and on behalf of the broader Asian and Pacific American community. We advocate for systemic change that remedies racial injustice, ensures equal opportunities for communities of color, reduces language barriers, and promotes immigrant rights.
Description
CAA employs multiple strategies to create change. At the grassroots level, we nurture the ability of Asian and Pacific American communities to participate fully in civic life. At the public policy level we advocate for systemic changes that create a more just and equitable society. Throughout our work we seek to build and foster alliances that strengthen and sustain a progressive Asian and Pacific American movement.
CAA has offices in three locations: our headquarters in San Francisco Chinatown (left), a satellite location in Visitacion Valley that serves the growing Chinese American immigrant population in southeast San Francisco, and an office in Sacramento where we anchor our statewide advocacy project, Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality (AACRE).
