The mission of the Center is to welcome and care for seafarers who visit Puget Sound. The Center provides that care through ship visits and transportation, connecting crews with vaccine providers in Puget Sound (e.g., Discovery Health), and offering communication tools (SIM cards) and other basic necessities (e.g., shopping) for seafarers.
The Mission to Seafarers - Seattle serves the hard-working individuals that live and work abord the merchant and cruise ships through the Port of Seattle.
We offer friendship through our on ship visits, counseling and services at the Seattle Seafarers Center; communication with loved ones back home through access to low cost phone cards, portable wi-fi units and our computer/internet lab that allows seafarers to Skype and email loved ones; spiritual services with volunteer chaplans, prayer books and on site chapal room; transportation from the ship to our center as well as shopping and recreational sites; and humanitarian support through crisis assistance, legal support and other needs that may arise.
We are a small organization that is a member site for The Mission to Seafarers international, serving over 150 ports around the world.
Our volunteers support us in a number of ways from driving passenger vans to transport seafarers (primarily from April - September), assisting with events, serving on our Board of Directors, and as ship visitors and chaplains.
