Mission Statement

Arts For The Schools is a community supported, bi-state 501(C) 3 non-profit organization. Arts For The Schools provides art education programs to PreK-12 students and children in our service area. Our service area spans from Truckee, California over to North Lake Tahoe communities and to Incline Village, Nevada.

Mission:Arts For The Schools mission is to enhance our children's education and foster a lifelong appreciation of the creative arts for students.

Our vision is for art education to be a part of every child's life and for the value of art education to be embraced as an important learning experience within our schools and community.

Performing Arts Program
Arts For The Schools brings world-class artists with unique and non-traditional performing art forms into schools and our community to promote cultural and artistic awareness. All performers are critically acclaimed and pass a stringent selection process to determine their cultural content and appropriateness for grades K-12. The Performing Arts program serves 16 schools in the region and dozens of preschools, private schools, charters and home school programs.

Artist in Residence
Arts For The Schools Artist in Residence program provides a visual art instruction course for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, and at-risk 9-12th graders. Professional artists teach classes 1-3 times per week at schools within Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. The students’ year culminates with a final art project, some which are collaborations among students and local agencies. Artist in Residence helps to fulfill State of California Visual Art content standards for students.

Each year Arts For The Schools presents six or seven professional performing artists in music, dance and theater. Our OnSTAGE roster of performing artists changes every year. Each year Arts For The Schools staff begin selecting performing artists for the Performing Arts program and onSTAGE season a year in advance.
