Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
This Is ME fosters substance in the world of adolescent and teen girls through programs designed for the "whole girl." With the guidance of exceptional women, girls have the opportunity to explore their individual strengths and learn to sustain positive relationships in a supportive, creative, and open environment.
This Is ME provides enriching, esteem-building programs for adolescent and teen girls. We've been active since January 2000 and have served over 740 girls. The overarching goal of our programming is that girls will learn about themselves, grow in confidence, express themselves more clearly, increase their decision-making skills and take on more leadership roles as a result of attending our programming.
We're currently active through 4 programs:
* a monthly program for 10-15 year old girls at the Logan Square Library (3030 W. Fullerton) which meets the last Saturday of every month.
* a weekly Homework Help program (via a collaboration with the Junior League of Chicago) at Mozart Park.
* we offer bi-annual six-week workshops on various specialty topics, such as: Improv theater, photography, cultural exploration and African drumming.
We welcome volunteers at any of these programs as positive female role models and to assist the program facilitator in whatever's happening that day. We're continuously looking for women to lead programs by sharing an area of expertise with the girls. In the past we've had women lead programs on origami art, the stock market, botany, entrepreneurism, dance, and yoga. A program usually consists of discussion and activities around a certain topic such as those described above.
