Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The purpose of Ohio Citizen Action, its mission, can be expressed in two words: "citizen action." Most people have commitments in their daily lives that restrict the time they can devote to citizen action. The organization offers members and volunteers practical ways to get involved with whatever time they can afford: research, writing letters, making phone calls, talking to neighbors, or speaking out at community meetings.
Ohio Citizen Action organizes on issues which affect people's day to day lives: public health and the environment, and consumer pocketbook issues.
Ohio Citizen Action has devoted most of its resources over the past nine years to running and winning good neighbor campaigns, which use the power of community organizing to convince major industries to prevent pollution at their facilities. These campaigns have won changes far beyond what federal or state regulations would require at AK Steel (Middletown), Sunoco Refinery (Toledo), Brush Wellman (Elmore), Lanxess Plastics (Cincinnati), and many others.
The Ohio Citizen Action website is updated daily on its good neighbor campaigns and its Money in Politices Project. Ohio Citizen Action is independent, nonpartisan and nonprofit.
